C.1900 This lovely Victorian cape is made from an 1850-60 era wool challis paisley shawl. It is not unusual to find the Civil War era paisleys remade into something else at a later date up into the turn of the century. The cape has wide rolled collar and a single black crocheted button to close at the base of the throat. Two slash welt pockets are set just right and left of the center front. The cape hem edge has been pulled to create fringe. The cape is lined in bone colored silk satin that has begun to go around the neck. There is some general fading to the black in the fabric. |

C. 1900 Black plush cape from the Victorian era with a wide rolled collar and ornate scrolled closure. The closure reflects the Oriental influence on fashion and decoration with the scrolled design with two fire breathing dragons at the center. Lined in gray silk jacquard. |

C.1940s Sweet navy blue wool jacket with white buttons accenting the pockets. Padded shoulders gently gathered into shoulder seams. Pointed collar and shoulder epilates that lay flat to the jacket and begin at the shoulder seam and extend forward down front of jacket and top stitched in place. Slightly full sleeves. Two patch pockets. Lined in blue rayon. |
