Victorian Edwardian Ladies Clothing

Ivory silk jacquard evening gown. This gown is from the same estate as the pink bead and lace dress and dates from 1912-1914. The bodice is empire and is made up of several layers. The inner-most layer is simple net lace. The next layer is ivory silk Georgette that also extends slightly out over the upper arm. The next layer is floral lace and that is set, in the front like a little vestee over the silk jacquard bust. In back the silk of the gown is set over the lace. The whole bodice is set upon inner twill tape for support. Around the empire bust line is a row of pearls. The skirt of the gown drapes freely down the front and is gently pleated into the empire waistline on the sides. The skirt trains out and down the back and is weighted as is the front hem of the skirt. The waist of the gown closes across the back with hooks and eyes. The skirt closes off-set in back to the right. Draping down along the seam edge below where the skirt closes end is a matching drape of floral lace set with a multiple rows of pearls and crystal beads. The drape is triangular in shape and extends down onto the train itself. The inner skirt structure of China silk is splitting. Absolutely lovely evening gown.

Lovely brown velvet day dress with silk sleeves. The dress has a high neckline of floral lace set upon an inner structure of silk that is all but completely gone. The long narrow sleeves are chocolate brown silk with soutouche decoration. The bodice covering the lace is chocolate brown silk velvet and is built like a jumper with all the edges accented in matching soutouch decorated silk. The shoulders are set with covered buttons. The bodice closes up the center back with hooks and eyes. More matching buttons are used on the sides of the bodice and down the side of the skirt. The matching skirt has a petticoat of chocolate brown silk with a pleated ruffle. The silk has begun to split. The skirt hooks close on the left side and is further accented with matching buttons and an inset of the matching silk. The sleeves have a very slight puff at the shoulder but quickly narrow and end in a point at the wrist.

An absolutely wonderful wool shawl from the mid-1860s. The texture is slightly rough and is without a doubt beautifully woven. The colors are still rich and not faded at all. The colors being red, green, tabacco, light green, forest green and pink. The fringe is is knotted and twisted. Minor fringe loss.

Black silk jacket with aysmetrical collar and handmade lace trim. The shoulders are set very high on the shoulder and cut-in at the fornt and back of the armscye. The neckline is is a deep v-line with the off-set and ysemtrically set handmade lace collar. The coat closes off-set to the left with with large covered buttons and loops. Two long vertical tucks run from the shoulders down to the side set large and deep pockets. The pockets are decorated with more handmade black lace and covered round buttons. The fabric is gathered beneath the cored lace trim adding increased volumne down the sides of the coat. The tuck continues down the coat from below the pocket to hem. Wonderful style!

Beautiful purple silk jacquard dress with the original and rare to have under-sleeves. The neckline is high and rounded with a small standing collar. The pattern of the fabric is very interesting there are areas of a reversed nap self-plaid and then next to that is a area that is just solid purple. The bodice has angled pleats and black lace to accent. The elbow length shaped sleeve has matching black lace and narrows just below the elbow. The underlies are not attached to the dress but are with the dress. These are very unusual to have so makes them rare. The skirt closes right over left along the waistband. The dress is widely pleated across the front and cartage pleated across the back. The dress is lined with brown glazed cotton although mot of the glazed cotton is gone from the upper bodice. The closures are also missing in the bodice.. The fabric is excellent and the underarms are clear. There are spots of fade on the dress on the skirt and on the lower inside of the sleeves.
