C.1938-44 Very late 30s or early 40s sit in a plus size. The jacket of the suit is sheer with black silk cord trim that covers the jacket in a swirling design. The center front closes with clear buttons and a hook at the center waist. The center front placket, collar, sash tie and skirt are all made out of silk crepe. The sash tie is an extension of the banded collar and there is a pea size hole on the sash, right side just at the point where collar becomes tie. This is hidden when the sash is tied. The hem was out of the skirt when I got it and I have left it out for the new owner to create the perfect length to the skirt for her. |

C.1938-43 Wonderful black silk dress set with gold nail heads, gold stamp leaves and turquoise beads. The neckline is slightly scooped but narrow set above with two straight across pleats. The curved shoulder yokes are accented with the beading of gold and stones. The moderately full long sleeves are set high onto the shoulders with tight gathers and the "hip" is accentuated with little shoulder pads. The sleeves end at the wrist with three-inch wide cuffs that snap to close. The bodice falls through the waistline and joins the full skirt below the decorations. The full skirt is joined to the elongated bodice with tight gatheres and a row of shirring. A center back zipper closes the dress. |

C.1940s A great waitress uniform in butter yellow with maroon piping. This uniform is from the late 40s to early 50s. One of the buttons is creased. Little triangle pockets that would have held little ruffled hankies and larger patch pockets for her order book. |

C. 1940s Black silk crepe evening gown with thin spaghetti shoulder straps. The left side of the bodice is draped to the left and cartage pleated into the center front button placket. The left bust is gathered into the right side bust seam and the left side seam. The left draping is only over the left bosom whereas the right side is draped over the whole right side bodice. Below the left bosom the fabric is secured into a flat button panel. What is also very interesting in this gown is that it is all reversed. The zipper is on the right side and the buttons are set up in reverse too. It has always seemed to me that side seam zippers where placed for right handed people so maybe this is a custom gown built for a left handed person??? Anyway to continue with the description of the construction. The right hand draping design is continued into the skirt. The buttons with their welt buttonholes are all decoration. The right side of the bodice is shirred at the side seam at the zipper. The skirt wraps around and laps left over right with a rounded center front bottom corner. The gown's bodice is lined with a sheer black rayon and also has an inner waist-tape to maintain the position of the gown at the waist. |

C. 1940s Black silk satin and silk crepe evening dress with a wrap sash tie. The neckline is slightly scooped but spreads widely across the shoulders. The long narrow sleeves are cut in one with the bodice and have an underarm gusset for ease of movement. The skirt of the dress is done in two layers. The under skirt is matching black silk satin with an over skirt of black silk crepe with a matching black satin boarder The over wrap crepe skirt is pleated up to the left hip where is secured. The three-inch wide satin boarder extends past the terminus of the pleated crepe to wrap around the waist and tie at the left hip. |
