Early black wool trousers and vest with a few minor moth holes in trousers. Metal button fly and leather tabs on the inside of the trousers hem. The vest has narrow lapels and for welt pockets. Center back Martingale. Lined in white glazed cotton. The trousers have a narrow tapered leg with a outseam stripe. Nice early probably mid-1800s. |

C Edwardian This lovely black silk faille brocade evening vest has deep rounded fixed lapels, welt pockets, and hand bound button holes. This vest would have closed with evening studs. The vest back is of glazed black cotton as is the lining. The martingale has been cutaway and the back center seam has been opened. On the front side of each arm hole the weave of the fabric has begun to separate. It is not splitting but the threads have begun to separate, in other words either the waft or the weave of the fabric is no longer intact. |
